**Please bring items that you already have, there’s no need to purchase tools**
Student materials list:
Basic tool kit (hand tools, files-including mini and large, pliers, etc.) including:
Round nose pliers, chain nose or flat pliers
Saw/blades (2/0 or 3/0)
Soldering supplies, including: sheet and/or wire solder, solder pad or charcoal block, flux, pic, tweezers, etc.
Small Ruler (6 inch or less)
goldsmith’s hammer or something with narrow rectangular side, and flat side (bring a few if you are unsure).
Stone setting tools: burnisher, bezel pusher, whatever you like to use for bezel-type settings.
Mallet: Heavy Delrin Plastic or other (optional)
Shears/ Joyce Chen /airplane shears/ other
OPTIONAL extra Sterling sheet to work with. 24 or 22 gauge (if you have it bring more otherwise a small piece is fine, 1” by 3” minimally). Also bring a variety of wire gauges. Teacher supplies all parts for project including the stone.
These tools are optional but will be useful during the workshop and for your tool chest over the long term. The mandrel is probably the least important of the items, given a choice.
Delrin plastic or wood block with crevices (optional) may be called U channel, used for forming metal.
Tube benders (smallest sizes, can be found in hobby shop/train store…large are used for plumbing).
pumice wheel or small flex shaft wheel to finish/smooth end of ear wire
NOTE: Since we’ll be making a pendant you may want to bring other parts to hinge onto your design that you’ve already created-a sampling will allow you to be driven by your inspirations. We’re making samples but having options will be useful, including a chain if you desire. Regarding what metal to bring, take along what you have in sheet and wire.
The kit will include a trillion faceted stone, tubing and other necessities. If you want to bring tubing that you already have, put it in your toolbox.
