In this 9 hour advanced workshop, Darlene will demonstrate and help students plan and build their own cage style earrings. These techniques can also translate to a pendant project that students might want to try at home.
*Plan and measure for what size earring is to be made.
*Determine the order of execution and building for the project.
*Proper set up and soldering of wires together to prevent melting other parts.
*Make and fit top cap and solder 6 even wire ends into it successfully.
*Shaping the earring wires evenly to hold a pearl or bead inside.
*Using a butane torch for all soldering on this project
*Soldering the basket into the top cap.
*Soldering the ear wire on without melting other components.
*Inserting the pearl or bead into the cage without damaging the wires.
The techniques focused on in this workshop will enhance your understanding of how to design and build something that involves precise and delicate work with confidence. After executing this project in silver, students may want to create it in gold, or with more cage wires.
