IMPORTANT NOTE!!! Please prepare etching solution ahead of time by adding 1 cup salt to 1 Qt H20. Add 1/4 cup salt 1 hr later. Let sit overnight.
FYI – Once layers of salt have formed on the bottom of the mixing container enough salt has been added.

Pliers, chain nose

Distilled water (see above note on preparing 24 hours in advance!)
Mixing container, 1 gallon or larger w/ screw on lid, plastic or glass (Mason jar works for this) (see above note on preparing 24 hours in advance!)
Sodium chloride-- free of iodine or additives (canning/ pickling salt or kosher salt) (see above note on preparing 24 hours in advance!)
Rubber cement or glue stick
Scrubbing pad, grey or green
D cell battery holder
D battery * (see below)
Wire connectors, wire nuts that match the size of the copper wire
1 square container at least 3 inches deep
Etching bath chamber, glass or plastic, deep enough to immerse 2-2”x2” pieces to be etched (3”x3”x3” would be a good size. Not much larger than that or the metal takes longer to etch.) Straight sides are the easiest to work with
