In this brand-new workshop, seasoned PMC artist and instructor Darlene Armstrong will walk students through each step of the process in making this eye-catching ring. Darlene has been making PMC jewelry and components for 17 years, and is excited to share her knowledge and secrets with you!
Students will learn effective techniques to create a striking project that looks contemporary with clean lines and finishes. With Darlene’s expert guidance, students will discover the “easy” way to make Precious Metal Clay rings that demand attention. These PMC rings are big sellers, people love the texture and uniqueness.
Students will explore best practices for creating a ring that is a specific size, and will also learn how to decide what kind of overlay design would work and fit. Students will gain a deeper understanding on how to determine which size stone/color of stone will enhance their design and how to execute that design flawlessly, from concept to finished product. Students will also learn about firing in a kiln, or with a butane torch, proper techniques for ‘pre-cleaning up’ your ring and why ‘pre-clean up’ is so important to the end result.
Students will find the skills gained in this workshop will raise the bar on the caliber of work they can produce. They will be able to comprehend the processes used to create a ring of this quality and professionalism and why these techniques are important in producing great looking jewelry.
