In this New Precious Metal Clay Beginning class, seasoned Metalsmith and PMC instructor Darlene Armstrong will be introducing two brand new projects. These Beginning PMC projects supersede the PMC workshop Darlene has taught for the last 17 years.
In this Precious Metal Clay workshop, students will explore best procedures for creating an exciting fold over multi-stoned pendant that is one of a kind. Darlene will walk students through each step of the process, with complete demonstrations, and will be available to help each student as needed. Students will discover secrets to creating a beautiful stone bezel that looks like it has been metalsmithed and how to add other smaller stones as beautiful accents with a minimum of effort and a great look!
Because this particular design is so versatile, students will have several options to create a unique pendant. Proper planning for excellent execution of the design, cut outs, textures and a fold over bail will be taught, as well as two ways to set stones. With Darlene’s expert guidance, students will apply new methods to create a pair of dynamic fold over earrings that will also have a small stone set in them and be uniquely hung on a sterling wire after firing. With these new skills, students will be able to create other designs and effectively experiment at home with confidence.
This pendant would be a great gift for someone or to wear every day. Students will have the opportunity to pick out the stone colors they wish to use, so if it is a gift, it could have a birthstone color or favorite color(s) of the recipient.
There will be ample time for questions and answers.
Both pieces will be fired with a butane torch and polished in class.
Come and get the inside scoop on how to create stunning jewelry without purchasing a metalsmithing shop. PMC is a great way to produce your jewelry designs with a minimum of start up costs.
Students will go home with a unique pendant and matching earrings that will exceed your expectations!!
