Bangles are rigid bracelets traditionally made from metal, wood, stone or shells. They are a versatile piece of statement jewelry that has remained a popular staple in fashion for their ability to add a special element to an outfit and reflect the personality of the wearer. Whether you prefer the minimalism of a single bracelet or enjoy stacking them high, bangles are a timeless accessory that continues to appeal to a multitude of individuals.
This workshop will teach a variety of styles that you can adapt to fit your own aesthetic. Participants are welcome to work with base metals and sterling silver in many different shapes and gauges. Your bangles can be twisted, textured, stamped and/or shaped. The goal is to have fun with bangles and learn a few skills while you’re at it!
Participants in this one-day workshop will learn the following skills:
Cutting wire with a jeweler’s saw
Filing to match ends of wire
Twisting wire to accomplish a variety of patterns
Stamping and texturing
Hiding solder seams and finishing with Bristle disks
Appropriate sizing will be discussed. Additionally, participants can learn how to make their own set of sizing bracelets so that they can fit others.
In this fun and creative workshop, Sara will demonstrate many different styles of bangle bracelets. You will be able to choose from these designs to make bracelets during the workshop, and after being taught multiple possibilities, you can develop your own unique bangle designs. Everyone will be able to design their own bangles and explore as many possibilities as time permits.
