In this workshop, veteran metalsmith Travis Ogden will be teaching what he is best known for -- moving metal to produce fine jewelry pieces. Students in this workshop will employ this process using specially designed tools to create a amazing anticlastic cuff bracelet and practice the complex but fun methods used to produce this unusual and desirable style of jewelry!
Anticlastic is a sheet metal process in which the center of a flat sheet is compressed while the edges are stretched. Both techniques are done with hammers on a sinusoidal stake. The resulting form develops two curves at right angles to each other moving in opposite directions.
***If roll printing-Students must do this PRIOR to showing up for class!! If you do not have a roll mill to use, please contact us at the school to schedule Open Studio time to use our roll mill. Students should roll 20 ga. metal to 21 gauge only, not thinner!! Students will not have time to roll mill in class!
Students have the option to roll print a pattern on their metal or leave it plain.
